Our Area & Terroir
The Lugana production zone lies in an area whose geological history goes back 200 million years.
This extremely ancient origin is responsible for some particular and distinctive characteristics. The nature of the soil – of morainic origin, at the same time clayey and calcareous - creates absolutely unique conditions for the cultivation of the Turbiana grape variety.
The microclimate, too, which is especially mild throughout the year thanks to the regulating effect of Lake Garda, contributes towards creating extremely favourable conditions for the ripening of the grapes.
This combination of soil and microclimate has given rise to a wine which, ever since Ancient Roman times, has been celebrated for its unique and appealing character.
